Eating Vegan on Chicago's South Side
There are so many places to eat vegan in the Chicagoland area, with the majority of them being on the north side. This post is dedicated to showing my side of town some love---the south side!
Check it out and drop us a line if your fave south side spot to eat vegan isn't on this list!
1450 E 57th St, Chicago, IL 60637

This hyde park gem is a vegan's dream. They have all types of vegan-friendly dishes from clean, healthy salads and juices to the coveted vegan "junk" food, like the vegan philly and nachos. You can dine in or carry out and they carry delicious vegan desserts! What sets B'Gabs Goodies apart from other vegan spots, is they host lots of fun, interactive community events and have late night hours.

Inside One Eleven Food Hall 756 E 111th St, Chicago, IL 60628

If you follow me on the 'gram, you know this is one of my go-to spots! Majani has two locations: their original location in south shore and they are one of the eateries housed inside One Eleven Food Hall in the Pullman area. I have tried lots of things on the menu like the fried grits, bbq cauliflower, fried oyster mushroom sandwich, spicy chicken sandwich, gyro and more..and they are ALL GOOD! If I had to choose I would say the bbq cauliflower and the spicy chicken sandwich are my faves.
1369 E 53rd St Chicago, IL 60615

If you blink driving down 53rd street, you might miss this quaint little family-owned cafe that offers delicious oven-baked vegan sandwiches, wraps and paninis (is your mouth watering yet?). I came across this spot from a good ol' Google search of "vegan near me" and decided to try it out. Once I checked out the menu I was ecstatically surprised to see an entire vegan section on their menu. You can dine in or carry out and they offer coffee and treats.
1368 E 53rd St, Chicago, IL 60615

I remember when they were first opening and the south side vegan scene was just a-buzzin'! Literally across the street from Cafe 53, this Hyde Park block is poppin' with vegan options. By far, my favorite thing I've tried here is the burger. It was SO JUICY and seasoned perfectly. There is very little seating at CBINM, so be prepared to pick up and go or wait if you go during lunch hour.
203 E 75th St, Chicago, IL 60619

This was one of the first spots I tried when I went plant-based and I was so happy I did. It helped me transition and this is a spot where my non-vegan friends/vegan-curious friends like to meet up for a yummy, quick, casual bite. This south side spot has been around for a long time and I know why. The food is delicous, priced right and the service is good! I have tried many things here but I would suggest trying the greens, vegan gyro and the falafel.
An honorable mention aka a shout out goes to Conscious Plates that recently opened. I have yet to try them out yet, but will definitely share my experience when I do!
Have you been to any of these south side Chicago vegan spots? Have you been to ALL of them? Drop us a line and remember..sharing is caring! :-) #chitownvegan
