Must-Try Vegan-Friendly Sushi Spot in Chicago

Updated: Feb 25, 2022

Before going vegan, I was a HUGE fan of a good ol' spicy tuna roll, honey, So when I heard about the Spicy Kaluna roll, Plant-based Tuna Tower and all the other vegan-friendly items on the menu at Blue Sushi Sake Grill in Lincoln Square, y'all know I had to try them!

This vegan-friendly sushi chain features cool meets elegant Asian-inspired decor. They have a full bar as well as mocktails, making this a perfect spot for date night, group outings and girls night out.

I tried several vegan maki rolls including the:

Avo Kuluna Roll

Spicy Kuluna Roll

Green Goddess Roll

Cowboy Roll (it tasted like a burger!)

and I think the Shitake to Me Roll (I honestly forgot, I was too busy digging in)

While waiting for the sushi, we enjoyed the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, which weren't all that crispy, but they were still the bomb.

We also had the Tuna Tower which was so good and almost as over the top as the boat that the sushi was hauled in on (check out the reel video I posted on my Insta for the visuals!)

When I tell yall every single bite was tantalizing....Kudos to Current Foods for creating the plant-based tuna that they use on their vegan menu! They have truly outdone themselves---Yall coulda fooled me!

Finally, I ended the night with their one vegan dessert option: the Chocolate Torte which was a little bit tart and a little bit sweet--it was so good, there was literally nothing left on the plate but some remnants.

Are you a sushi lover? Have you been to one of the many Blue Sushi Sake Grill's across the country yet?
