I pulled up to the brand new Vietnamese coffee shop, VietFive in the West Loop (1116 W Madison) and y’all! They are looking out for the vegan of Chicago. This vegan-friendly coffee shop is owned and operated by Tuan Huynh, an award-winning creative director and community organizer.
He instilled his sense of community in his business, as it is a neighborhood spot where you can utilize it as a co-working space, while enjoying coffee and more. This cool, light and airy co-work friendly coffee shop offers: - Plant-based milk: I enjoyed an iced coffee with oat milk and agave. They also have coconut condensed milk.
- Non-dairy soft serve : They offer a matcha flavor that is coconut based and I enjoyed their coffee flavored soft serve that is almond milk based. The coffee ground "sprinkles" were the perfect touch!
- Donuts: They have 2 vegan donut flavors—Dulce de leche and the one I devoured, Ube glazed.
Everything was tantalizing and the owner assured me they’re working on getting more vegan options including vegan empanadas!
I am a coffee lover and while enjoying my cup, learned that their coffee beans are grown and harvested on their family's land in Vietnam. Tuan and his family's testimony is quite a triumphant story!
If you find yourself in the area, be sure to pop in and tell them Plant-based Tamika sent you! Have you been to VietFive yet? Are you a coffee lover too?
