If you know me, you know I prefer to eat vegan AND gluten-free, so dining at this 100% gluten-free, vegan / plant-based Chicago restaurant is a no brainer! I truly feel better physically when I avoid gluten, so I was so excited to hear when Bloom Plant-Based Kitchen opened up last year in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. I truly enjoyed every sip and bite from this 100% vegan, gluten-free menu including: Brussels & Kale Caesar w/the salt cured eggplant (that mimics anchovies from a traditional Caesar) on top is so good! I would have loved more of them, so next time, I'll be sure to ask for extra eggplant. Spicyyy Boii Mocktail - Such a good mocktail. Love the lightly spiciness after the sip.
Shroom & Chorizo Flat Bread Pizza - I really enjoy their flatbread! The cheese pull and flavors are on point, as well as the visuals.
Truffle Beet Tart - This dish is a piece of art! Really enjoyed the fresh flavors and crunch. The dill on top along was the perfect addition!
Lions Maine - This entrée was so tantalizing! It is super savory, ‘meaty’ and filling! I learned that they source the lions maine mushrooms from a local to Chicago grower. Baja Taco, made with banana blossoms was yummy! I enjoyed the texture and flavors.
Outside of the menu, I really love the non-pretentious, yet upscale vibe and decor. It was also nice to see and learn that they grow many of the plants used in the dishes right on site and use local farmers/vendors to create their menu.
Their staff is very knowledgeable and down to earth, which I appreciate every time I visit.
Overall, I would highly recommend checking out Bloom for a date night, with friends or even a solo dining experience. Tell them Plant-based Tamika sent you! Have you been to Bloom Plant Based Kitchen yet? If so, what is your favorite menu item?
